We organised a final stakeholder event (26–27 May 2025) embedded in the International Workshop “Conserving and Restoring Temporary Pond Landscapes in Europe” (28–30 May 2025, La Rábida, UNIA, Spain). The workshop involved 15 invited speakers and 32 participants and included a stakeholder roundtable with policymakers, conservation managers, pond users and scientists.

It was probably the first time that so many temporary pond researchers were together to exchange ideas and interact with stakeholder groups. The location of the meeting could not be more dramatic. Doñana NP where temporary ponds are disappearing at alarming rates due to overabstraction of groundwater.
